Importance of Appreciation for each other

Updated: Mar 1

Expressing appreciation in our relationships is fundamental for building long-lasting and healthy relationships. As time passes, we begin to take our relationships for granted. However, it’s never too late to appreciate our partners and loved ones. Saying “thank you” consistently is a skill that can rejuvenate your relationship. Appreciate your partners/loved ones for every little thing they do, their efforts, and who they are. It helps them feel better about themselves and further cements a loving bond in the relationship.

7 ideas to show your partner appreciation

You can use some of the ways mentioned below to express gratitude to your partner/ loved ones:

1.      Listen attentively to what they have to say. Listen to them with your eyes and with your heart.

2.     Write a thank you note and leave it in a place that they are likely to see.

3.     Give them a hug or a kiss or hold their hand. The sense of touch sends a message of how much you care about them.

4.     Plant and nurture a tree together.

5.     Express your feelings to them and be vulnerable

6.     Spend at least 15 minutes together every day for open communication.

7.      Cook a special meal for them

A 2-minute appreciation daily habit in your relationship

Here’s an activity you can play as a game or make a routine together with your partner/loved ones to appreciate them for who they are. Choose three qualities from the list below that are true to your partner/loved ones. Support it with a reason.

Qualities: caring, cooperative, accepting, appreciating, loving, kind, funny, vulnerable, authentic, helpful, generous, sincere, spiritual, loyal, flexible

Example:

Quality in the partner/loved ones: Thank you for being so loving.

Reason: I appreciate this quality in you because the other day when I was very tired after attending to all the guests, I felt your warmth and love when you made me a cup of tea.

Time for you to practise this routine by taking turns together.

Let me know how you go with this.
