A Confession: Why I Came Back to Divorce Coaching

Monica Kalra - The Reclaim Letters, Issue 1: A Confession
Dear One,
I owe you an honest letter before anything else.
I’ve been away for a while. And I want to tell you the truth about why.
Last year I made a deliberate pivot. I moved away from divorce coaching towards executive coaching. I told myself it was a natural evolution. That I was ready for something new.
But if I’m being really honest with you and I think that’s the only way to start I wanted to shake off the label of divorce coach because some part of me felt like divorce was a disease that had attached itself to me. And I desperately wanted to outrun it.
It didn’t work.
I spent months trying to fit into a world that didn’t fit me. Because it wasn’t me.
So, I took a break. I sat in the discomfort of running from myself and I heard something I’d been trying not to hear.
Working with women going through divorce is your work. This has always been your work.
Not because divorce happened to me. But because I know what it costs a woman to carry this quietly. I know the shame, the loneliness, the estrangement. The years of going back and forth before she trusts herself enough to take one step. I know it from the inside out. And I know what’s possible on the other side of it as well.
That’s why I’m here.
The Reclaim Letters is where I’ll write to you every week; honestly, without performance, about what it really takes to find yourself again when a marriage has taken up so much of who you are.
If that’s where you are, I’m glad you’re here.
If it’s not where you are anymore, that’s okay too. You can unsubscribe below. No hard feelings, only gratitude that you were ever here.
For the ones who stay, I’m glad you’re reading this.
With love, Monica
